Celia Osakwe-Hibbert Speaks on Her Achievements as SA Diaspora Imo State

The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma on Diaspora Affairs, Cllr. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert has spoken on her efforts to fulfill the mandates of her office, even as she appreciated the free hands given to her by the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Giving a scorecard of her office, she noted that despite the COVID-19 pandemic that altered virtually all the state government’s plans and programmes, her office has been able to partner with some foundations run by Diasporans to provide palliatives the indigent Imo State residents.

She added that talents are wasting on the streets but vowed to harness them and help some young people get their dreams fulfilled.

“I am here to facilitate, I am here to empower dreams; I am here to make dreams come true”, she said.

Hon Celia Osakwe-Hibbert then disclosed that her office is partnering “notable investors that are waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic to step down for actions to kick start in earnest”.

According to her, the Imo state Diaspora community under her leadership has strategically put everything in place for the benefit of Indigenes in all Local Government Areas in the State.

Commending Governor Hope Uzodinma for given her the opportunity to coordinate diaspora affairs, she noted that a lot has been achieved despite the COVID-19 pandemic, saying “We have been able to embark on medical outreaches, palliative distribution across the local governments.

“We have also given special interest to disabled people in the state with lots of packages already benefited and lots more to come.

“Youths in the state, is a very critical area we have touched-light and activities are already on ground amidst the initiative of diaspora athletes that would help empower them.

Ms Osakwe-Hibbert stressed that the governor has provided her with operational vehicles but they are expecting more from the state Governor, whom she described as wonderful in his support for her office.

Ms Osakwe-Hibber who is also an elected Councillor in Penn ward, Wolverhampton, UK, said she will continue to put her wealth of experience in engaging with the Diaspora communities in the UK and all parts of the world to achieve success.
